Alittlebitoutoffocus

Following on from my walk with Jude on Sunday morning, the sun was still shining brightly (and snow was expected over the next few days), so I decided to go out again in the afternoon. I chose another of the walks on my list, as it gave me the opportunity to check the detailed Route Description (which turned out to have a couple of errors). It also ticked off another of the ten ‘Easy’ walks, which I’m hoping to do over the next few weeks.

For info. I’ve now completed the Overview Map, Gallery and Route Description for 21 of the 33 walks described under the “Walks in the Val d’Hérens” menu heading (above) and I still hope to finish them all by the end of January. I’ll keep you posted! 🤣

      Yes, I nearly missed that! I was watching where my feet were going and only stopped to take a picture of Evolène from above (which was too dark to include) and I noticed all the spikes out of the corner of my eye.

    It’s lovely to do these familiar walks virtually, whilst being stuck in the UK! We have a chalet in La Tour and have done many of the walks you describe in your blog- with the vaccine rolling out we are SO hoping to be able to make it out for Easter! We miss the wonderful Val d’Herens.

      Let’s hope things improve (and rapidly). I’m reliably informed that only 200,000 Valaisans have been vaccinated so far. By contrast, I’m hoping to get back to the UK in April or May to do a walk with 4 of my friends. Plus my daughter is expecting in June, so another reason to come over.

    Beautiful captures, Mike, I especially loved the crucifix, the close-ups of the chalet/building woods, those wood steps cool, and the cliff of icicles (that is gorgeous!).

    Have you stopped in at the Cafe des Collinnes? Notice that the food/drink is where my eyes stop. 🙂

      Everything is closed at the moment, except for takeaways. But the Les Collines restaurant is the best around here. (The chef actually does something different to the usual cheese fondues and steaks!)         Love Belgian beers… and it may be ho-hum to you now, but I’d also kill for a real cheese fondue!

          Don’t get me wrong, cheese fondues are OK, but they are a bit one-dimensional. 🧀🧀🧀😋
