Happy 90th Birthday Angela!

Last Monday was Jude’s mum, Angela’s 90th birthday. By way of celebration she wanted to have a picnic by Llyn Idwal, which is a fairly large lake in the Cwm Idwal National Nature Reserve (which is in the Eryri/Snowdonia National Park). She’d chosen that location because, over the past 70 or so years, she’d spent many happy times there with her family.

It was only natural therefore that her family would want to be there to enjoy the occasion with her and she was joined by her 3 daughters; Charlotte and her 2 daughters, Louise and Anna (who had all travelled over from France); Kate and her husband Niall as well as Jude, myself and Tomos of course.

As you will see from the gallery, it wasn’t the best of days and some effort was required to get to both the Lake and the picnic location (sheltering from the wind and occasional light rain), but it was a very special day and a fabulous time was had by all.

Footnote: The Welsh text on the bench (pic 28) translates as:
“The magic of Cwm Idwal is enchanting, its deep spells hold us fast.“
So you can see why Angela keeps returning!

Thank you Brian. Angela follows my blog so she will now see your comment. (If she’s already read it, I’ll remind her to have a look in a few days). πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

I play basketball with women ranging from 60 to 83 so it’s possible to age and stay fit πŸ™‚

Wow, that IS impressive, especially as it’s a fast and furious game. I do my best, by walking the dog and the (far too) occasional 5k run, but I need to do a lot more. Keep it going! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

No, not too fast and furious for the older ones. There’s differing rules and space required in our revise B/B game πŸ™‚

Absolutely understandable why Angela and anyone else would want to return often to that area. Stunning! How wonderful that she could enjoy her big day with family. Too bad the weather decided to be kind of icky, but it looks and sounds like y’all made the best of it. David’s mum is around 90 too, and she is still hiking like gangbusters up and down paths in the Lake District. I think she can outwalk her 6’2″ son! πŸ™‚ Inspiration for us all.

Yes, they obviously made them tough in those days! David’s mum sounds incredible too. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

What a lovely way to celebrate Angela’s 90th birthday, Mike! ❀️ Your photos really capture the beauty of the place and the warmth of this special family occasion. Angela clearly has a wonderful spirit to still be heading out on adventures like this at 90! And apparently, a bit of Welsh weather wasn’t going to spoil the day! 🌞

Thankfully it didn’t rain too much and the sun was trying to come out. That did provide us with quite a few rainbow moments. πŸŒˆπŸ‘πŸ˜Š
