Kettlewell to West Burton
On the last Day, it was Dave’s turn to partner me on the longest stage (of about 14 miles or 22.5km), leaving Tim and Liam with the ‘glory’ (finishing) leg from West Burton back to Reeth. The rain camedown pretty incessantly for most of the morning but it gradually cleared as we reached half way.
I was stopped in my tracks when I read the plaque on the bench (pics 3 & 4), wondering how on earth did ‘he’ get on there. But a quick bit of research revealed that it’s a reference to the ‘last trumpet’ in the Bible (Corinthians 15:52). Yorkshire folk (of which I am one) have a habit of altering and leaving bits of words off tha knows! 🤔
