Isle of Bute, Scotland

The Wednesday was forecast to be bright and sunny, so we opted to take a tour of the Isle of Bute. It was about a 40 minute (28 mile/45km) drive down to the ferry at Colintraive but, once on board, only a 2 minute (quarter mile/400m) crossing of the Kyles of Bute to the island.

We followed the coast road down and went anti-clockwise, visiting every beach we could find. (Jude and Tomos love a good beach!) On the way back to the main town of Rothesay, we detoured to take a quick look at Mount Stuart, a magnificent Neo-gothic mansion house, standing in 300 acres of grounds.

Looks like a perfect day. When I lived in the UK I always meant to go to Rothesay. Funny how these things can slip past you. Thanks for sharing xx

Yes, it was the only decent day that we had. We only saw a little bit of Rothesay, so I can’t really comment on how nice it would be to stay there, but we definitely enjoyed the rest of the island. πŸ‘πŸ˜€

Gorgeous day for your terrific photos. Tomos always looks so happy and engaged. The estate is quite something!

If you look closely you’ll see Tomos’s tail is always a blur in the photos. It wags almost permanently unless I take him into a pub or try to show him at the local village show! But wait until you see him tomorrow…! The caption is ‘Happy dog’! πŸΆπŸ‘πŸ˜Š
