Wychwood Way, Oxfordshire, England (Day 3 of 3)

Woodstock to The Bird in Hand, Whiteoak

Firstly, I have to say that Woodstock is a delightful little village and, if you ever get the chance to visit, you should. If nothing else because…

Our walk began with a very relaxed meander through the fabulous grounds of Blenheim Palace. There are signs saying you need a ticket to enter certain areas but, for the most part, the public rights of way are many and, of course, free.

Hopefully, we (well, I) will be organising another walk for the autumn, when Dave is available and Pete’s knees are back in working order! Get well soon Pete!

Enjoyable read Mike, we live in a country with so much history and beautiful countryside. I wonder what that guy would have done if all the dogs ran off in different directions!

Yes, we’re very fortunate to have such a variety of scenery. (I still yearned for a hill or two though!) Some of those dogs were pretty big, so I think he did very well to hang on them when they were all going in the same direction!

Lovely landscapes and the stained glass windows are beautiful.

My only criticism of the route is that it was a bit flat. The highest point was only 204m and even then there were no far reaching views. But, despite not being very religious, I am always drawn to look inside a church. The architecture, things inside and stained glass windows, as you say, never seem to disappoint.

I so enjoyed joining you three on this lovely spring hike, Mike. The wildflowers, trails, trees, river, churches, landscapes and friends were beautiful and poignant. Keep on trekking my friend.

I love that you schlepped the two plushies for your missing buddies.
Beautiful hike! David did a running commentary on this hike, with the map, too. 🙂 It is great you stopped to take the photos of the little plants, like you do.

It’s been a while since I could hike to various pubs vicariously through you. I enjoyed this series.

Many thanks M (I still can’t think of you as Laura and M is much more mysterious!) and David, of course, for taking you through them. We plan or hope to do another walk in late September or October. But it may well depend on Pete’s knees. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that he recovers quickly. 🤞🤞
