Sandaig, N.W, Scotland

Sorry, everyone! I’ve just realised that I have a few more photos of our holiday in Scotland… On our last full day there, we went for a short walk down to Sandaig…

This remote and beautiful place was made famous by Gavin Maxwell as Camusfearna in his book ‘Ring of Bright Water’. The book describes his life with his pet otters at this very peaceful location. Maxwell died on 7th September 1969 and his ashes are buried beneath a large memorial stone very near to the beaches shown below.

Yes, you can see why Mr Maxwell decided to up sticks and move there. I think it would be OK for a while but you’d need to like your own company! 😊

Tomos is hilarious, “I got a stick!” and ADORABLE. Loved the shell photos.

Typically, Tomos will find a stick, drop it for me to throw. I’ll throw it and he’ll fetch it back, but chew it until it splinters into 2 or more pieces, then drops them expecting me to throw (at least part of) it again. If it’s big enough the cycle continues until there’s nothing left of any size to throw or he eats what’s left.

Wow, it looks like a beautiful place to visit. I’ve been to Scotland many many times, but never to Sandaig – I have to put it on my travel wish list. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx
