After dropping off Dave, Liam and Tim at Church Stretton, Pete and I drove and parked the car just outside Much Wenlock. Being paired with Pete again meant that there was still little or no chance of a significant number of photos from the first (14.5 mile) leg, so, again, I’ve only posted images of the 15.5 miles that we walked to Bridgnorth.

We soon discovered (on the information board shown in pic 7) that a Much Wenlock resident, a certain William Penny Brookes, was perhaps the real founder of the modern Olympic movement, waaay back in 1850. That’s 40 odd years before a certain Frenchman pinched the idea! Click here for more details.

Rain was forecast for later in the day and it was around 12 o’ clock when we donned our waterproofs as the first spots started to fall. Thankfully we found some respite in The Acton at Morville. πŸΊπŸΊπŸ‘πŸ˜Š

The evening was spent, back where we started, at the Golden Lion in Bridgnorth.

    Dear Mike

GREAT pictures of this four days hike. Thanks for sharing them.
We don’t really know Shropshire. So we got a little taste of it.

    Keep well

Thanks Klausbernd! Yes, I think it’s amazing that we live on this small island and yet there are still many areas that we have not yet visited. In our case, Norfolk is one of them. (I don’t think a business trip or two to Norwich really counts!) I’m sure we will get to visit there one day!

The North Norfolk coast is a perfect place for a holiday – well, if you like the sea and boats.

My wife certainly likes both of those, so I’m sure we will arrange a trip across sometime!

Lovely to see these photos Mike.. My grandmother grew up in Much Wenlock where her father was a tailor back in the day. She loved it dearly and had a wonderful childhood there. Great to see it again, thank you! ☺️
