After dropping off Dave, Liam and Tim at Church Stretton, Pete and I drove and parked the car just outside Much Wenlock. Being paired with Pete again meant that there was still little or no chance of a significant number of photos from the first (14.5 mile) leg, so, again, I’ve only posted images of the 15.5 miles that we walked to Bridgnorth.
We soon discovered (on the information board shown in pic 7) that a Much Wenlock resident, a certain William Penny Brookes, was perhaps the real founder of the modern Olympic movement, waaay back in 1850. That’s 40 odd years before a certain Frenchman pinched the idea! Click here for more details.
Rain was forecast for later in the day and it was around 12 o’ clock when we donned our waterproofs as the first spots started to fall. Thankfully we found some respite in The Acton at Morville. πΊπΊππ
The evening was spent, back where we started, at the Golden Lion in Bridgnorth.
