I’ve dubbed it the rainbow season as, at this time last year, we saw more rainbows than I think I’ve ever seen in my life (and that’s a long time!) After the gale force winds and torrential downpours of yesterday, we awoke to relative calm. The clouds, albeit grey, were high and Hebog, Snowdon, Cnicht and the Moelwyns were all clearly visible. And then, of course, it rained…

In the pics you can just about make out a second rainbow on the outside of the main one.

Great rainbow shots Mike. Was the first picture made in one single shot or did you compose it from different shot to one panorama ?

Thanks Rudi. The first shot was with the ‘panorama’ setting on my point and shoot. I used to take individual photos, then stitch them together with some software, but the new cameras have amazing capabilities which make it so much easier/quicker. 👍😊

Thanks for explaining Mike but I was almost sure you did it that way.
        Great work !

Yes, it’s a long time since I stitched a few photos together. In fact the software is on my ‘old’ laptop, which has been stored away for maybe 4 or even 5 years. Thanks again for your nice comments Rudi.

Thanks Donna, you’re too kind! We had another, small one, this morning. Most of the sky was either fluffy white clouds or blue skies and the mountain opposite was lit up with Portmeirion below in the shade. That image was impressive enough, but there was a section of rainbow hovering over the village. (I thought about posting another picture but decided it was too similar to the one yesterday. I’m sure there will be other opportunities). 😊

We certainly seem to get a lot at this time of year, so I’ll see what I can photograph and post. 🤞🤞😊

Wow! The first image is really impressive! Great pictures all three, rainbows are fascinating to see, as a consolation for all the rain that fell.

Yes, I like that idea of a consolation! You’d prefer to see just sunshine, but the rain is there… So a happy compromise. 😉😊
