I’ve not done this walk for over 2 years, possibly because it climbs to 3,254m (10,675 ft), from our chalet at 1,410m (4,626 ft).Β  But the forecast for today was for no rain and the sun to emerge around mid-afternoon, so off I went.Β  However, I’d forgotten how tough the final climb was along the ridge from the Col de Torrent to the summit, but the views from the top made it all worthwhile.

Breathtaking. I can’t believe there are still so many flowers blooming. It’s not too cold? Thanks for this beautiful post.

There are only a few flowers around – e.g. that gentian was the only one I saw. It certainly was cold on the top, but otherwise it was OK and maybe around 15 degrees in the valley.

Funnily enough (and I should have mentioned it in my post) they’ve just launched something called Evotrail (short for EvolΓ¨ne Trals I presume), where there are at least 9 ‘challenging’ running routes around the valley. I followed nos. 1, 3, 6 & 9 initially, which soon became just 6 & 9 and then just 9. But they are surely too steep to run all the way! Check out https://www.evolene-region.ch/tourism/evotrail.html for more details. I hope your race went well?
