As I hope you all know by now, I’m always looking to find somewhere new to show you. So today I have a treat… In that this is the first time I’ve ever done this walk, which heads up from Arolla towards the Vignette Hut. However, ordinaray walkers, (i.e. without crampons and a Mountain guide) need to stop at the Pièce Glacier. It’s a bit of a climb, but well worth it for the great views of the Arolla valley and the surrounding mountains. 🙂
Truly stunning scenery. I can’t believe that animals live u there, it looks so barren!

Yes, they certainly like the altitude and it’s amazing that they survive. Though I suspect they sneak down to lower pastures when us humans are not around. 🙂

I’m glad you liked it. I often wonder whether it’s worth putting some of those early walk images in the gallery. But I think it shows what you have to go through to get to the higher paths and it provides a nice introduction to the walk. It’s sort of the same for the descent, with the bridge and steam. 🙂

Yes, Switzerland is a fabulous place to live. It’s perhaps even more varied than some of my posts show. I should do more cityscapes, but I like the countryside better. 🙂
