Yesterday we bade a very fond farewell to Katie and Fergus, our honeymoon couple, who had walked over 80 milesΒ during their week staying with us !Β  Only a few hours later Matt arrived, another keen walker. He and I had been to the top of the Barrhorn (@3,610m) togetherΒ a few years ago.

Looking for something slightly different, we decided to driveΒ around to the Dixence damΒ (the largest gravity dam in the world you’ll remember)Β to do aΒ circular walkΒ over the Col des RouxΒ to the Cabane de Prafleuri.Β  Some friends and I may be staying there in September, soΒ it was a good opportunity to check it out.Β  As you’ll see from the photos, there was still quite a lot of snow around.

Amazing pictures as always Mike. Especially nice to see snow, brightness and blue skies. All we have here is the dank and gloom.

Thanks. The forecast is very good for the next 3 days as well (like 26 degrees here in EvolΓ¨ne – which means 30 something in the Rhone valley). So I’m looking to find some new locations to post. E.g. on Wednesday I’m popping down the road to see the Tour de France, which is going through Martigny. I hope I see more than just a blur !

So beautiful! I think James and I may have to add your area of the world to our “to do” list!

You should add it to your list, there is so much to see in a small area. (Indeed that applies to pretty much the whole of Europe, let alone just Switzerland and our little valley !) πŸ™‚
