The mini-heatwave in the North West of Scotland has finally relented (sadly), but at least that has allowed me some time to catch up with some blogging… 🙂

After spending a few days in Hull, seeing my family, I set off to York to meet up with my mates Pete and Colin.  The plan being to spend a few days walking in the English Lake District (- more on that to follow…)  Not wishing to miss an opportunity though, Pete and I decided to warm up for the trip with a bike ride into the Howardian Hills, which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Our route took us through the pretty villages of Bulmer and Welburn, as well as passed Castle Howard, one of Britain’s finest historic houses and gardens.

Yes it’s a beautiful part of England, often overlooked by visitors to York or to Yorkshire in general. I’ll be posting some pictures of NW Scotland shortly, so please come back and check out my site. Many thanks for your comment.

Sorry Tammy, and there’s a lot more to come I’m afraid…! (4 days walking in the Lakes and at least 4 or 5 from NW Scotland). Perhaps you’d better not look. 🙂
