Hello,
My name is Mike and I’m lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world – Switzerland. Naturally this means I am drawn to taking photographs – lots of photographs… and I’d like to share some of these with my friends, family and anyone else who might be interested.
The title of my blog, as you will see, is a little bit unusual (well, I had to pick something that wasn’t already being used) and although it often reflects my photographic style, sometimes I might get it right and I’ll post some of the best images on this website.
In terms of subjects, you can expect to see lots of panoramic landscapes, close up shots of flowers and butterflies, (if they’ll stay still long enough) as well as my best holiday snaps. 🙂
January 2021 update:
Over the past 15 years, I think I must have walked every path in the valley (well, almost). Armed with this precious local knowledge, I’ve put together a list of 33 walks, in 3 categories, graded Easy, Medium and Challenging for people to use. Each of the 33 walks has an Overview with a link to a map, a gallery of photos and a detailed Route description. Click on the “Walks in the Val d’Hérens” menu option or here for more details.
If you have any comments or would like any advice, please feel free to contact me by email (see Contact menu option for details) or by commenting on any Blog post.
Happy walking!
Mike

My daughter is planning to come to the area to study a glacial aspect for her BSc dissertation – is it possible to have a “private” e-mail discussion about the ease of study at Arolla and your local glacier.
Thanks

I’ll do my best to make it interesting. Our Scottish trip finishes around mid-May, so expect to see something posted towards the end of May. (I don’t normally take my laptop on holiday, so I’ll have a lot of catching up to do!)

You’re welcome Rudi. You may have noticed that currently I’m working on a series of walks around the Val d’Hérens (under a new Menu option). It’s only taken me nearly 6 years to start this! However, so far, I have 5 of the ‘Easy’ ones finished and hope to finish the rest of the 30 or so in the next few weeks. 😊

Well our mountains are different from yours, but they are both interesting, keep walking and photographing

Thank you Salimeh. I hope to keep walking along those mountain paths as long as my legs and lungs will allow! 😊
