A few weeks ago now, my wife, Jude, had a rather pleasant surprise when she was offered two tickets to the Chelsea Flower Show – for free! Our ex-neighbours in Switzerland, Cecile and Olivier, had ordered them for the wrong day and they decided to give them to Jude. I don’t think they knew, but it was also for the day of her birthday, so it was an especially nice gift.

This post, therefore, is to say a huge THANK YOU to Cecile and Olivier, as we had a wonderful time exploring the various show gardens and exhibits in the Great Pavilion.

You will note that I’ve not tried to name each photograph as, not being much of a gardener myself, I didn’t want to make any mistakes, but I think the huge variety of colours and shapes speak for themselves.

And, if you’d like a nice Mad Hatter’s tea party water feature (see last pic), it’ll set you back a cool £75,000 (or $92,500) ! 😲

Don’t worry Mike, we’ll just let the images speak for themselves. It’s a beautiful Flower Show, thanks for sharing these images.

It’s my pleasure Rudi. Yes, I love all the different colours and shapes and I like taking the photos, but don’t ask me what they are! I’m always very impressed with those TV gardeners who even know the Latin variety names. How do they remember all that stuff!? 🤔

We not always need names to enjoy the beauty Mike, that’s true and not only for flowers – LOL

Yes, thanks for your comments. I love to photograph anything colourful or unusual, so there was plenty of material there. There were a few other nice sculptures too, but my jaw dropped when I saw the price of that one!

What a wonderful gift it turned out to be for Jude – and for the rest of us! I am naturally pleased that you included the South African winning entry, Blackjack Agapanthus 🙂 🙂

Yes, I had to include the Plant of the Year! The day was only spoilt be the number of people attending (as you might have gathered from some of the pictures) and the lack of places to sit to have lunch or simply take a rest. But otherwise it was a fabulous day. 😊

I guess those pebble thingies could be hung on the wall, but I think they’re meant to be the centre piece of a yard or patio. There was an example in the middle of the floor, but people were stood over that and it wasn’t as interesting as those three.😊
