As mentioned in my previous post, my good mate, Pete, came over from the UK last week to do a 4 day trek around the Saas valley. Due to a certain youknowwhat, both his flights were cancelled and, after re-booking them, his stay became 6 days long instead of 5. However, that meant that we could have a ‘warm up’ and ‘warm down’ walk either side of our hike.

So this was Pete’s acclimatisation walk (of 15km, or just under 10 miles, with over 930m, or 3,050ft, of ascent) and your ‘aperitif’ before the main course starts tomorrow. 😊

Tomorrow we move to another valley, which is the other ‘fork’ of the Zermatt valley. 😊

Yes, you should. It’s a beautiful country, which is extremely clean and has possibly the most efficient transport system in the world. Though it is expensive. (There’s always a downside I’m afraid!)

Great crisp light in these gorgeous photos! I love the pair of butterflies and the shot of you two sharing a pint. To friendship, Mike! Cheers!

I think the virus has had a positive effect upon the air quality, due to the lack of planes. (Though not in your area obviously!) The butterflies are easier to capture when they are ‘stuck’ together, though I have seen them fly off as a pair. Pete and I have been friends since 1980 (i.e. 40 years). We’ve had a lot of adventures together – either in running races (like New York and Prague marathons) or these type of multi-day walks. 😊

It’s a gift to have a friendship like that. Wonderful that you still keep in touch and make time for shared experiences. That’s what life’s all about, right? Take care!

Yes, indeed. He recently sent me a photobook, which he put together during the initial lockdown, with pictures and text of many of the ‘events’ we’ve done together. It’s a fabulous keepsake to have. Take care too.
