Weekend weather…

So, how was your weekend ?  Ours was interesting as you will see…

Firstly, I was going to post some of the following pictures last Friday, but didn’t quite get around to it.  As you will see we had a little bit of snow on Thursday/Friday – about 8″ or 20cm to be precise.  This did however mean that the birds flocked to our feeding station, where I spotted the following, without even leaving the chalet:  Blackbirds, Song Thrush, Ring Ousel, Chaffinches, Greenfinches, Marsh or Willow Tits, Coal Tit, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Siskins and a Rock Bunting.

Secondly, if you read my post of yesterday, (note, which was only 2 days later), you will have seen that the snow had all gone.  This is what it looked like on my way to the Combat de Reines:

8 Yesterday

And then, of course, today, the 1st May, the snow is back again…

  1. Such a winter scene for spring, MIke! Great to see that you have food for your abundance of birds, and I love seeing what birds you have…quite different than ours. No matter what the season, you live in a gorgeous place.

    • It certainly was – a white out, then blue skies and green and now white again… Crazy! But, you’re right, I had fun both spotting and then trying to identify some of the birds, not to mention trying to get a good picture. 🙂

      • hope the recovery is going well…i can’t honestly say i enjoyed the half at all..the course was scenic in places but i pretty much hated every mile and ran one of my worse ever halfs in terms of time – this sport certainly keeps us humble doesn’t it?!! still, nothing a couple hours at an excellent local brewery/restaurant for happy hour didn’t fix…cheers!

        • It sure does. I’m glad you switched from the marathon then – THAT would have been a big disappointment after all that training. I’m sure it will work out better in the end. As for thse beers, every cloud… 🙂 Cheers!

    • Yes, for a short while we had the only piece of green grass for miles around after I’d cleared away a patch of snow. So the ground feeders, like the Blackbird, Song Thrush and Ring Ousel were looking for whatever they could find. The feeder always attracts the rest. 🙂
